OJSH Welcomes new SRO
The new school year at OJSH brings us a new SRO – Student Resource Officer. OJSH welcomes Cst. Jim Duncan who replaces last year’s SRO Cst. Shawn Cherwaty. Cst. Cherwaty accepted a new assignment into another RCMP unit that will also benefit from his skills.
Our new SRO, Cst. Duncan, spent five years policing in Fort McMurray before spending the last five years with Parkland RCMP. Now, with his new assignment, Cst. Duncan splits his time between St. Peter the Apostle Catholic High School in Spruce Grove and OJSH.
Cst. Duncan will be at OJSH Mondays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. His office is upstairs next to the Learning Commons. Cst. Duncan has hit the ground running at OJSH by ensuring all students who drive vehicles to school had proper registration and insurance in order to obtain a parking pass. Cst. Duncan said he was looking forward to working with the students and staff at OJSH. He laughed as he said: ” I went from having no children to having 1500! Bring it on!”
